Kim Alfonso, MBA
Kim Greenfield Alfonso is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Results One LLC. Kim brings over 30 years of experience and knowledge in working with public, private, state, and local governments in the Washington, DC Region. After a successful career in the nonprofit and corporate arena, Kim knows that a diverse workforce is critical to the success of all organizations, and diversity and inclusion are the cornerstones of a productive environment. In addition, Kim has extensive experience working with people with disabilities and is an expert in the disability and accessibility arena.
Kim obtained both a Bachelor’s in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Kim is involved in working on transformative initiatives in Washington, DC, and is currently a board member of the Greater Washington Black Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Engagement Advisory Board for Washington Gas, and serves on the DC Water Business Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council. In addition, Kim serves on the Leadership Council for the National Small Business Association and the DC Women’s Business Center Advisory Board.
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser also appointed Kim to serve as Chair of Small Business and Personal Services for the Mayor’s Re-Opening DC Advisory Group and selected by the Mayor to serve as Co-Chair of Age-Friendly DC, a committee dedicated to making Washington, DC a livable community for people of all ages.
A strong proponent of the disability community, she was selected as one of the “Women Who Mean Business” by the Washington Business Journal in 2014 and received the Mayor’s Washington Women of Excellence Award in Leadership in 2015. In 2020, Kim was recognized in the Executive Profile section of the Washington Business Journal.
Cherlyn Freeman-Watkins, Esq.
Cheryln “Cheri” Freeman-Watkins, Esq., is an attorney with over 20 years of litigation experience. She is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and Maryland. Cheri is an experienced trainer and facilitator with more than 15 years in the areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Compliance under Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and Howard University School of Law. She is a certified mediator with supplemental mediation and conflict resolution training from Harvard Law School.
Cheri received her Diversity, Equity and Inclusion certificate for Human Resources professionals from Cornell University. She is certified in Culture Facilitation from Veritas and is a certified ADA trainer. She is recognized as an expert in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Understanding our Unconscious Biases, and prevention of harassment in the workplace.
Cheri is a former member of the Dress for Success District of Columbia and is a member of Leadership Montgomery. Cheri is a graduate of the Ascend Thrive Accelerator, Washington Area Community Investment Fund. She serves on the Montgomery County Board of Economic Development Board and is a member of the BOW Collective.
Debbie Smith Rayford
Debbie Smith Rayford is the founder of DSR Consulting, LLC a boutique diversity and inclusion consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. With her heritage of Irish and African American, her enthusiasm for diversity began at an early age. She believes that diversity and inclusion work is her “passion and calling.” For the past three decades, she has impacted over thousands of individuals with her thought-provoking messages of inclusion, and her approach to diversity and inclusion. Smith Rayford has experience in strategic planning, change management, diversity, training, and facilitation.
Smith Rayford has served in senior level diversity roles such as the Associate Director, Diversity and Inclusion, Internal Revenue Service; Vice President Diversity and Inclusion, Discovery Communications; Executive Director, Walter Kaitz Foundation; Chief Communications and Diversity Officer, Wellness Corporate Solutions and Senior Vice President Diversity and Inclusion, Allfirst Financial. She has also provided strategic solutions to clients in healthcare and higher education.
She is a passionate advocate for justice and equity; a provocateur not afraid to have the difficult conversations; someone with over three decades of experience collaborating with corporate leaders in support of enhancing their understanding of what it is like to be the “other.” She assumes positive intent and believes her purpose on earth is to break down barriers and build bridges across difference.
A native Washingtonian, Smith Rayford holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education from the Catholic University of America and a Master’s in Business Administration from Howard University. She has been the recipient of many awards including Black Enterprise – “Top Executive in Diversity” and Women in Cable Telecommunications -WICT “Inspiration” Touchstones Award. She is also the 2021 recipient of the Georgetown University Lombardi Women “Spirit of Life” Award.
Tommy Amal
Tommy Amal has extensive experience as a Development and DEI strategist in the higher education, nonprofit and government sectors.
His experience working in student affairs, academic affairs and university development help give him a deep understanding of the higher education system, development strategy and donor engagement. His entrepreneurial experience as a consultant and nonprofit experience as a Director of Development have taught him to be strategic, flexible, innovative and unafraid to fail. These are all skills necessary to cultivate and successfully solicit donors over time.
He has served as Director of Development and Corporate Relations as well as the Assistant Director of Development for Leadership Gifts at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business. He has previously served Virginia Tech in roles in the Dean of Students office, The Student Success Center and as a Central Leadership Gift Officer.
Leadership and service are important to Amal, as a Commissioner on the Arlington Economic Development Commission, a member of the Leadership Greater Washington- 2023 Rising Leaders Cohort, Community Service Chair for the Rotary International (Capitol Hill-DC Club), member of the District 7620 DEI Committee and member of the membership committee for the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
Tommy Amal is a Senior Consultant and Development Strategist that has successfully implemented fundraising programs for non-profits and higher education institutions. He has significant project management skills and competencies managing development programs and projects with highly rated customer service and feedback. He is knowledgeable with development models, methodologies, and execution strategies. Tommy has supported executives, managers and employees through DEI organization transformation engagements of various sizes and complexities.
He holds academic degrees at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and Virginia Tech. He graduated from Illinois in 2006 Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Leadership Education and with a Master of Science in Agricultural and Extension Education from Virginia Tech.
Durell Cooper
Dr. Durell Cooper is one the nation’s leading cultural strategists and is the Founder and CEO of Cultural Innovation Group; a boutique consulting agency specializing in systems change and collaborative thought leadership. He is also the creator and host of the web series, Flow and the Podcast Fluency. He is also an adjunct instructor at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, New York University, and The City College of New York. Durell graduated from the Impact Program for Arts Leaders (IPAL) at Stanford University in 2018. He is a member of the Diversity Scholars Network at the National Center for Institutional Diversity, University of Michigan. He earned a B.F.A from Southern Methodist University, and both a M.A & Doctorate of Education from New York University.
Marlene Thomas
D. Marlene Thomas is President & CEO of Thomas Management Consulting (TMC) LLC, a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) that provides strategic consulting and executive coaching services to Federal, State and private sector businesses. She has over 25 years of experience in leadership and executive coaching, organizational development and project management.
Her coaching and consulting practice is dedicated to supporting individual employees and leaders as they build productive partnerships, teams and workplaces. Her areas of coaching specialty include leadership and executive development, career transition, personal and team effectiveness and coach mentoring. She provides her clientele with coaches who are International Coach Federation (ICF) certified and have extensive experience.
As a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), she believes that coaches are facilitators of positive change, and the role of the coach and client is a collaboration where the client is willing to do some homework to achieve his or her specific objectives. Marlene believes three words best describe her coaching style — authentic, engaging, curious.
Marlene has worked with public and private sector clients and partners. Her clients include but are not limited to, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), St. Luke’s Institute, Interdynamics, Inc., the Department of Commerce (NOAA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Computer Science Corporation. She has worked with numerous non-profits including the United Negro College Fund and So Other’s May Eat. She is also a volunteer coach with Stand Beside Them which provides pro bono coaching and mentoring services to returning military service members and their families/caregivers during their transition to civilian life. She has also provided coaching services to Institute for Education Leadership (IEL).
Marlene is the current President, and past Membership Director of the International Coaching Federation Metro DC Chapter (the largest city chapter in the world). She is an active member and volunteer leader for the Association for Talent Development (ATD), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Marlene is a former member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) with over 25 years of demonstrated management of complex systems in Federal, State and local organizations. She has worked with individuals and teams in for-profit and non-profit settings including government, technology, education and health care associations.
Ms. Thomas holds a Master’s Degree in Management/Human Resources from the University of Maryland University College, as well as certificates in management from Harvard University and the Federal Executive Institute (FEI).
